From WFATT President

Konichiwa.

I want to thank and congratulate the Japan Athletic Trainers Association (JATO) on being selected as the host society for the Xth World Congress of the World Federation of Athletic Training and Therapy (WFATT). Part of the selection process includes consideration of the “impact factor” of bringing the Congress to that part of the world. In the case of the JATO application, the impact was clear. JATO is a leader in Athletic Training in Japan and poised to have their own impact domestically. JATO and the Japan Sport Association (JSPO) are both respected members of the WFATT and we are pleased with how the relationship between the two organizations has developed.

The prospect of the 2020 summer Olympic games in Tokyo, also presents an exciting opportunity for the Athletic Training and Therapy world to come together in preparation for the games. Delegates to the World Congress are leaders in their field in their respective countries. We welcome the opportunity to come to Tokyo in advance of the Games to network with each other and with representatives of the host country.

I want to thank the many volunteers who have worked hard to put on what we anticipate will be an outstanding educational, networking and cultural experience.

See you in Tokyo!!

Domo Arigato.
